If you plan to build up your Ranch, you’ll need one thing more than anything else: wood and stone. These two materials are everywhere and are used for everything — from making floors and walls to crafting tools and upgrades.

To gather them, just grab your axe and pickaxe and head out exploring. Trees give you logs, and rocks give you stone. The better your tools and the tougher the location, the higher the quality of materials you’ll bring back.

Once you're home, you’ll need to process these raw resources at the right workbenches — logs become boards, and stone becomes blocks. You’ll also meet traders in Town who are willing to trade one type of log or stone for another, if you’re short on what you need.

Wood

At first, you’ll mostly find pine logs — simple and good for beginners. As you explore tougher regions, you’ll gather oak, maple, and ash wood, all of which are better for construction and fuel. Further north, rare woods like cypress and alder await — tough to cut but very durable.

Back at your Ranch, you can saw these logs into boards. Pine boards are basic, while alder boards are top-tier and perfect for serious upgrades.

Stone

Stone starts with simple rock, which is easy to mine. But as you go deeper, you’ll find stronger types like shale, basalt, granite, and even decorative marble.

Like with wood, these raw stones can be processed into blocks at your stonecutting bench. A shale block is okay for basic construction, while a marble block adds elegance. The strongest material in the game is the reinforced marble block — made by mixing marble with tungsten. It’s strong and stylish.
